Kennington CE Academy School is truly a place of discovery. Our aim is for all children to develop their talents, reach their potential and be happy during their time with us. We provide an outstanding learning environment rooted in Christian values, as a Church of England school we pride ourselves with the link with have with Canterbury Diocese and the Parish of Kennington.

We strive continually at the school to provide learning of the highest quality.   Kennington is an academy and enjoys the benefits of being part of the Aquila Schools Academy Trust. We work collaboratively with other schools in the trust, sharing practice and resources; our school also prides itself in retaining its own autonomy.

Year on year the school has achieved high standards of attainment in English and Maths. Children leave the school well above the national expectation for reading, writing and maths.

Our curriculum is outstanding, providing a broad range of experiences and opportunities. Children learn through themed topics termly to apply their literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.

Our aim is to recognise each child’s individual talents; we want pupils at Kennington to have memorable lifelong learning experiences. We believe our school is very special, we have a learning environment to be proud of, amazing teachers and support staff, and as a result, pupils are engaged, enthusiastic and proud of their school.

Our School Vision and Values

Kennington CE Academy is a Church of England school. We are an inclusive community where Christian Vision and Values empower us. We work with pride and passion to create life-long learners who fulfil their potential as God intended. If we work together, we will be the very best that we can be; achieving, celebrating and succeeding whilst having fun.

‘Everyone who uses what he has will get more. He will have much more than he needs. But the one who does not use what he has will have everything taken away from him.’ Parable of the Talents. (Matthew 25:14- 30)

The original school building was built in 1872 and this building still exists as a school office. In the 1950s nine classrooms were added. A hall and three further classrooms were added in 2000.

We now have 12 classes of up to 90 children in each year group.

We are well supported by our PTFA who raise a lot of funds that enables us to enhance the learning for our children.

We work closely with Downs View Infant School and have strong transitions from Year 2 to Year 3 which welcomes everyone on board.

Our local church is St Mary’s Church which the children can see from the playground. This amazing 600 year old church has a bustling community which we are proud to be part of.

Kennington Community Council supports peoples views on the schools, church and other aspects of the community. Kennington CE Academy is proud to be an active member of Aquila. To find out more about the Trust, visit their website www.aquilatrust.co.uk
