We will be changing the length of the school day to meet the revised Government expectations of 32.5 hours from September. These changes work with the adjustments made at Downs View Infant School to assist parents who need to collect from both schools.

The new timings will be:

Mornings:

Gates open at 8.30am

Gates close and school starts at 8.50am

(Downs View gates will open at 8.30am and will close at 8.40am)

Afternoons:

All classes will finish at 3.20pm

(Downs View classes will finish at 3.10pm)

Timings of the school day 2022 – 2023

The timings of the school day are slightly different for the upper and lower phases. The timings are as follows:

Year 3 and 4 school day:

08:40-09:00 – School gates open and children go into class

09:00am-09:20am – Whole school Collective Worship

09:20am-10:20am – Learning

10:30am-10:45am – Morning break for years 3 and 4

10:45am-12:15pm – Learning

12:15pm-01:15pm – Lunch

1:15pm-3:10pm – Learning for year 3

1:15pm-3:15pm – Learning for year 4

3:10pm – End of the school day for year 3

3:15pm -End of the school day for year 4.

Year 5 and 6 school day:

08:40-09:00 – School gates open and children go into class.

09:00am-09:20am – Whole school Collective Worship

09:20am-10:30am – Learning

10:30am-10:45am – Morning break

10:45am-12.15pm – Learning

12:15pm-1:15pm – Lunch

1:15pm-3:10pm – Learning for year 5

1:15 -3:15 – Learning for year 6

3:10pm – End of the school day year 5

3:15pm -End of school day year 6

Year 3 and 4 children are taken to the top playground to be dismissed at the end of the day and year 5 and 6 children are taken to the bottom playground to be dismissed at the end of the day. If you would like your child to walk home from school on their own, you will need to complete a permission form and this can be found on our website.

If your child is ever going to be collected by another person, you must inform the school office or fill in a permissions form on the school website, so that the class teacher can be made aware. If the school office are not informed, your child will not be allowed to go and you will be contacted to find out who is supposed to be collecting your child.
