Welcome to Kennington CE Academy

Kennington CE Academy is a Church of England school and part of the Aquila Diocese of Canterbury Academies Trust.

All schools have their own distinctive ‘feel’ which makes all of us unique. We believe that the ‘special feel’ at Kennington CE Academy is to do with our caring and friendly atmosphere. We always enjoy opportunities to share the varied memories of those who have previously been associated with the school, as this emphasises just how much it means to so many people. We are keen to build on those memories with every new cohort of children we receive. Our school is continuing to develop in many exciting ways, providing quality experiences at an age appropriate level for our children.

As a Church of England school, an important part of our Vision and Values is our respect for the individual as part of the family of God. It is our aim to nurture each other, both spiritually and academically, to help us to understand and use the special talents we all have been given. We have created a very special ethos here, which is rooted in our links with St. Mary’s, our local church, and the Christian faith. This underpins our approach to education, with a strong emphasis given to supporting our children’s pastoral needs as well as their educational progress.

We are extremely proud to lead a team of talented staff who are committed to achieving high standards and providing the very best opportunities for our children. Staff, supported by Governors, work hard to deliver a rich and challenging curriculum; to prepare children for their future and to help them acquire skills and enthusiasm needed to pursue learning for the rest of their lives.

Leaders – Mrs Katie Wratten and Mrs Lynn Seal

Dear All,

April 2020

We hope you all had a restful Easter break and welcome to our very first remote summer term! We’ve all had to adapt to new ways of working, so we wanted to take the opportunity to say what an amazing job you’re doing supporting your child’s wellbeing and learning during this time.

It’s definitely been a strange and challenging time, so it’s ok if you and your child feel wobbly and worried at the moment. We’re here for you every step of the way as we figure this all out together.

Remember, if you have any concerns about helping your child learn or you need any other support from the school, please let us know by phoning Mr Poore our FLO on 07879 744277, emailing your class teacher or phoning or emailing the office.

We miss the children very much, but we must follow the government’s guidance to keep everyone in our community safe. So, we’re carrying on with providing learning through our Website and Dojo; opening only for our vulnerable children and children of Key Workers .

Just because we’re not all in the same building, doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun together! Your children will have lots of activities they can get stuck into over the summer term – so keep a close eye on our Website and Dojo.

We also love seeing the children’s fantastic learning at home – please keep sending their work in, as we would like to showcase it on our Website and in school in due course.

We can’t say yet when we’ll be able to open the school fully, but rest assured that we’ll continue doing our utmost to keep your child learning and our school community connected. Let’s get cracking with our summer term!

Stay safe and take care.

On Tuesday 10th March we had our SIAMS inspection.

We got an EXCELLENT – the highest grading that can be given.

We
are so proud of all the hard work that the whole community put in so we could achieve such an amazing grading.

We showed that we truly are a strong community that works together to ensure that we can all AchieveCelebrate and Succeed.

‘Developing and using God-given talents consistently supports and drives the academy’s
Christian service to its pupils and their families.’

Well done everyone!!
