In English this term we survived an air raid and then used our journalistic skills to investigate what had happened. We wrote a newspaper article about the event including quotes from several eyewitnesses who were injured in the attack. We used our working wall to order the event chronologically, think about the 5 w's and gather some time connectives.
In maths, we have been looking at place value. We have been ordering numbers, counting in powers of 10, rounding and looking at numbers up to 1,000,000! We have used manipulatives to enhance our understanding and then putting our knowledge to the test with some problem solving activities.
In Science, we have been looking at forces. We are currently designing a parachute and considering how the size and material affects the speed of decent. We started by looking at spinners and experimenting to see how we could affect the speed at which they fell.
In our Topic lessons, we have been looking at World War II and thinking about how children were affected by the war. We have looked at evacuation and what children were allowed to take with them. Next we will be thinking about the journey they had to take and how they might have felt.
